Coleen Nolan Weight Loss

Not the spectacular breakdown or public fight, but the quiet doctor’s appointment when someone tells you a number from a blood test and the room becomes motionless. There is a kind of moment that changes everything. For Coleen Nolan that time arrived in 2024, following a serious chest ailment. Her doctor ordered a full blood test and what came back was a HbA1c level sitting in the pre diabetic category. She said it was when she said to herself, I’ve had enough nibbles, I need to get away from the fridge.

That kind of self deprecating honesty is quite typical for anyone who’s seen Coleen on Loose Women over the last 25 years. Born in Blackpool in 1965, she was the youngest performing member of The Nolans, achieving success with the group in the late 1970s and early 1980s before becoming one of ITV’s most known daytime voices. And running parallel to all of this has been her weight, a tale that has been freely addressed, often agonizing, and it turns out, never truly resolved by the various diets she tried over the years.

The Coleen Nolan weight loss story that has captivated British celebrity press in 2025 and 2026 is actually two stories simultaneously. There’s one that’s physical: she has lost roughly three and a half stone since linking up with the doctor led clinical platform Voy in October 2025, going from a UK size 20 down to a 14, a difference of three dress sizes.

The other tale is a change of mind. She’s been openly scornful of the new generation of GLP 1 weight loss injections for years, arguing on television that they treat the symptom, not the reason, that overeating is fundamentally a mental health issue and that a weekly shot can’t alter a person’s connection with food. Maybe those arguments still hold water with her. But seeing her son Shane Junior drop three stone and, more importantly, seeing his mental health improve with the medication softened something in her perspective. It was his alteration, not any marketing or clinical fact that touched her.

By spring 2026, the physical results were indisputable and, for many lifelong observers, very stunning. Backstage pictures of Coleen shot in February at Loose Women showed her looking a lot thinner in a pinstripe jacket. Later, while filming Celebs Go Dating in Spain, she was snapped in fitting summer dresses, a stylistic shift that spoke something about confidence as well as attire. She told the Mirror in an interview in April 2026 that she had never, in her whole broadcast career, had a photoshoot when all the outfits properly suited her, and some had to be pinned because they were too big. It was a moment that felt both tiny and huge.

Coleen has been careful throughout to set the Coleen Nolan weight reduction journey in medical rather than cosmetic terms and that framing has mattered. She’s sixty years old, she watched her sister Bernie die of cancer at fifty two, and she’s seen her sisters Anne and Linda get their own catastrophic diagnoses in recent years.

She talks about wanting to be mobile and there for her grandchildren, not wanting to proceed to full type 2 diabetes and all the issues that go with it, and it carries a weight that a simple slimming story doesn’t. She’s working class, with a Lancashire accent, unrefined in a way that daytime television normally sands out of its presenters. She talks about emotional eating and late night lapses in a way that lands differently from a polished influencer. There is a feeling that many ladies watching at home have seen something of themselves in the depiction.

Her voyage has sparked a cultural conversation that is not wholly comfortable. She has been attacked by body image campaigners who say her connection with Voy promotes people to regard prescription medication as a lifestyle fix, rather than a clinical treatment. She’s been ridiculed online, first for being too big and then, practically overnight following the transformation, for being too small.

Both comments were deeply wounding, she said, not least because those labeling her obese were merely echoing what she had been telling herself for years. Still, she has publicly drawn a purposeful line in the sand, saying plainly in several interviews that she does not want to drop any more weight, that she is comfortable at a size 14, that the next stage is maintenance and what she defines as a balanced relationship with food and with herself. Some who were first dubious of the cooperation have even secretly supported the decision to stop, to declare openly this is enough.
