It’s both relatable and a little scary to watch Lola Consuelos work out with her mother. Celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser shared a screenshot of Kelly Ripa and her 23 year old daughter lying on the ground with their heads propped up on their knuckles last summer. The two of them were beaming with that certain weary joy that only comes from pushing your body to its utmost. The same position. The same smile. The same glow after working out.
It’s difficult to ignore how much Lola has changed since those early pictures of her standing awkwardly next to her famous parents at red carpet events when she was a teenager. She’s now living in London and pursuing a career in music on her own terms and she’s gained the kind of quiet confidence that shows up without making an announcement. Adopting her mother’s fitness philosophy appears to have contributed to some of that change even though it took her some time.

E! News was informed by Anna Kaiser who has been Kelly’s trainer for more than 14 years that she has known Lola since she was seven years old. It has been fun to see Kaiser said to watch her grow from a little toddler into someone who truly comprehends the relationship between exercise and mental clarity. However Lola didn’t suddenly develop a passion for intense dancing interval training. No one does. Before things clicked she had to watch her mother for years noting that despite her hectic schedule hosting Live with Kelly and Mark she never missed a session. She now truly enjoys it and recognizes the difference in her mood following a successful workout according to Kaiser. And how it’s so integral to her life. Lola seems to have reached fitness on her own schedule because she saw firsthand the benefits of consistency rather than being coerced by anyone. That is important. The lesson takes on a deeper meaning when you witness your mother prioritize her health for more than ten years as a child.
In the best way possible the exercises themselves sound tough. Kaiser’s approach creates what she refers to as high intensity interval training without the dreaded burpees and mountain climbers by fusing strength training with dance choreography. Rather you’re perspiring while performing dance steps alternating between weights and choreography and your heart rate is constantly fluctuating. Lola is now doing this six days a week which is the kind of dedication that takes time to develop.
The way Lola and Kelly communicate during their joint sessions is especially fascinating. They pick on each other and joke around and laugh according to Kaiser fostering an environment that feels more like fun than punishment. When Kelly pushes for a harder effort or another set Lola will occasionally object saying Mom! Really? They occasionally battle over dancing moves and music selections giving each a chance to shine while the other joins in. Yes it’s competitive but that’s how families become competitive when they’re having fun.
Lola’s fitness journey isn’t about limiting herself or changing herself only to look better. That might be the exact reason it functions. Kaiser stressed that eating more more protein in particular rather than reducing calories is at the heart of her thinking. A minimum of 70 grams of protein per day should be consumed ideally timed to replenish muscles after exercise. Fish or tofu for dinner lean protein for lunch and a protein drink after working out. Add fiber rich fruits and vegetables as well as nutrient dense carbohydrates to your diet.In order for our bodies to function we must eat Kaiser clarified. In a sector still fixated on restrictive eating and juice cleanses that seems almost radical. However it also explains how someone like Kelly has been able to sustain her body and vitality for years without appearing worn out or fatigued. Lola is now learning the same strategy: don’t starve the work; instead fuel it.
Lola seemed to have realized that consistency is more important than intensity on any given day. On days when you’re only running at 30% capacity you provide 100% of that 30% according to Kaiser. You then give it another go tomorrow. Perfection is not the goal here. It’s about being present even when you’d prefer not to be and Lola undoubtedly learned this lesson from her mother hundreds of times before she fully grasped it.
Lola’s connection with the public’s focus on her physique and way of life is complicated by the fact that she was raised in the spotlight whether or not she wanted it. She was trailed by paparazzi on her way home from school. On national television her parents told tales about her. Long before she had any say in the issue she knew she was being observed. Lola recalled how when she was younger Kelly would tell her that the photographers were taking photos of the birds in an attempt to maintain some normalcy in a September 2023 podcast episode with her mother.
As an adult she is now managing that attention while pursuing her own musical career which entails scrutiny of its own. She has confronted the nepo baby debate head on recognizing the benefits of having well known parents but simultaneously highlighting their lack of experience in the music business. There’s no correlation to the stress that I feel and what my parents do because they aren’t in the music industry thank god! she said to Extra in 2023. Even while the strain persists that self awareness feels rejuvenating.
After spending a semester overseas she moved to London in 2024 which probably also changed things. distance from the media environment in New York where her parents are employed and from people’s presumptions. She is creating a different kind of life in London with her partner Cassius Kidston than her parents did when they were her age. She is releasing her music gradually and purposefully. Even though her mother isn’t physically present most days she continues to follow her exercise regimen. After learning British words she’s organizing things or getting things sorted as Kelly made fun of her.
It’s yet uncertain if Lola will put out a full album or keep releasing singles whether her music career will flourish or continue to be a creative outlet in addition to other endeavors. It appears more certain that she has learned how to independently maintain her physical and mental well being which may be more significant in the long term than any particular career accomplishment.
Kaiser stated that she created her virtual studio program in part because many are unsure of where to begin when it comes to fitness and how to plan a week’s worth of different exercises. Every week she selects ten exercises five of which are pre recorded and five of which are live. Users are asked to select four of these exercises: high intensity intervals dancing intervals power up and sculpt. No uncertainty no misunderstanding. Simply follow the plan and show up. Even from across the ocean Lola now possesses that structure. She has the guidance of a trainer who has known her from childhood as well as the information her mother spent years gaining.
Lola stated in an interview in July 2023 that the best guidance she had from her parents was to be respectful and observe how they remained true to themselves and authentic and respectful and grounded and to work hard. She continued by saying that it was merely something she learned via observation and wasn’t actually advise. The fitness piece most likely happened in the same way. Years of witnessing someone put their health first and gradually realizing why it was important not lectures or pressure.
In 2020 Kelly told People that she had learned so much about being a modern day woman from Lola especially about how her generation helps one another. For all the talk about women helping other women I see it in her generation in a way I never have before Ripa replied. Their relationship now has a reciprocal quality that transcends normal parent child dynamics. As peers they exercise together. They advise one another on fashion but Lola’s advice to Kelly to wear shorter tighter clothing has the reverse effect according to Ripa.
From the outside it’s easy to summarize Lola’s narrative as follows: a renowned daughter gets in shape and emulates her mother. However that ignores the subtlety. She did not simply follow her mother’s regimen. She defied it lived her own life relocated abroad established her own job and when she was ready returned to fitness on her own terms. That’s not copying. Integration is that.
Finding what works for her body and her life is likely more important to Lola’s transition than any particular physical alteration as evidenced by the confidence presence and new way she conducts herself in recent images. Exercise six days a week may seem severe but you’ll see that it makes her feel better more grounded and more equipped to handle whatever comes next. Then they simply sound like better marketed self care.
Years ago Mark Consuelos claimed that he had mellowed on being overly protective of Lola after seeing what a good head on her shoulders she has. That assessment appears to be correct. She managed to become well known while avoiding a public breakdown. She is balancing assumptions about status and nepotism while pursuing a career in music. Despite being far from her family she relocated overseas and kept up her routines and connection. She also realized that taking care of her body was more about feeling strong capable and prepared for whatever life threw at her than it was about looking a certain way.
There isn’t a transformation timeframe a dramatic before and after or a hidden weight loss method. Just a young woman who saw her mother emphasize exercise for years tried it herself found she enjoyed the way it made her feel and persisted. That kind of gradual dedication almost seems rebellious in a world that is fixated on big revelations and fast remedies.
